On Sitting With What You Cannot Fix

Stillness is not calm. It is the refusal to leave the room when the room becomes uncomfortable.

By LESSBLUR · October 24, 2026

People come to stillness hoping it will feel like relief. Often it feels like staying. The itch, the unfinished message, the mood you would rather scroll past.

Sitting is not the same as being calm. Calm is a weather report. Sitting is a decision: I will not leave the room just because the room is loud.

What you cannot fix in the next ten minutes does not need a new tab. It needs a person who can remain beside it without decorating the discomfort.
